How to Install a Module in Dotnetnuke® (DNN4)

This document outlines installation of modules that come packaged with DNN and modules which are not part of the DNN package. I will refer to these two types of modules as Pre-installed Modules and Third Party Modules.Installing Modules in DNN v4.x

Adding Pre-installed Modules

1. Log into your DNN instances using a Host account.

   

2. In the control panel at the top of the screen, select Install Additional Modules.

   

3. Another way to access the Install Additional Modules is through the Host menu. Select Module Definitions.

   

4. The Module Definitions page will display.

   

5. Scroll to the bottom of the Module Definitions page to view the Available Modules section. Select any modules you would like to install by clicking on the appropriate checkbox. I have selected the FAQs module in this example. Select Install Selected Modules when finished.

   

6. While DNN installs the selected modules, a progress bar will display.

   

7. You can now select the added modules in the Module dropdown down box in the Control Panel.

   

You have successfully installed your module!!!

Adding third Party Modules

1. Log into your DNN instances using a Host account.

   

2. In the HOST menu select Module Definitions from the drop down list.

   

3. The Module Definitions page will display.

   

4. In the Module Definitions drop down select Install New Module.

   

5. Use the Browse button or type in the path to the third party zip file. Select Install New Module when finished.

   

6. When the install process is finished you will see a list of actions taken. ‘EndJob Installation successful .’ will display at the bottom when complete.

   

7. You can now select the added modules in the Module dropdown down box in the Control Panel.
