Overview

Multiple Web-based projects were needed to define the quintessential TV Guide online experience. After selecting DotNetNuke^® (DNN^®) as the right technology solution, TV Guide selected R2i as the right firm to design, develop and integrate into this interactive environment.

Solution

R2i designed and built a worldwide intranet site, Gemstar Corporation website and a business-to-business destination site for national sales efforts. Each site included core and custom DNN® technology, executed within custom designs. Working closely with offices spanning the country, R2i was able to develop a set of scalable web platforms enabling TV Guide to fully harness the power of open-source content management.

The projects began with creation of a robust HR intranet that is used by over 3,000 employees to date. This site provides a dynamic platform for team members to interact on both a corporate and inner-office level. The site features multiple content streams, database integration and user generated content to maintain rich content that is also current.

Completion of the HR intranet, laid the foundation for the affiliate business-to-business web development project. Geared to high level TV Guide customers like Comcast, COX, and Time Warner, this site provides a destination to conduct business and share information. The b-to-b site acts as a portal for file sharing, patch application downloads, interactive tools and data retrieval, all within a dynamic framework.

The final project was development of the Gemstar TV Guide website, targeted to the media, stockholders, investor relationships and the public at large. This site was built upon the core framework, utilizing the Content Management System integration within the other sites. Dynamic Flash elements, along with a multi-tier navigation system, were used to guide viewers into preferred content areas. Although each of the three sites were developed with a specific goal and target audience in mind, each share similar workflow, database structure and core design philosophy. This powerful combination created economies of scale and allowed R2i to successfully deliver a unique Gemstar web experience.
