Happy New Year Community!

Just wanted to say that Bi4ce is the kind of place where I could refer my business contacts. Because I know there are real people in the community that respond to inquires and who have inspired Northern Ontario on the DNN scene.

Expect more posts from TweakBOB as I weed my way through endless possibilities discovered through Listx and related technologies.

Hi TweakBOB!

I'm in Toronto and would like to hear your thoughts on referring business contacts. You mean if I get a contact in Waterloo, I should refer him to you and vice versa? That sounds reasonable. I'm more interested in collaboration as some companies prefer to deal with bigger service providers.

Well Mike, I live in Wawa, and what I mean by referring contacts is that I spoke with Chris of biforce. I contacted them through their website and they called me personally to explore options and inform me about a couple of things. I am new to web development and to programming but when I discovered DNN, my mind swirled wildly because I could help out the businesses in Northern Ontario and make some income doing it. I can't do it all alone and is why I contacted biforce. If I need a custom skin developed or want to hire someone for a big project then they are the people I will contact. I have built one site so far which is http://www.transcanadachrysler.com and it was really fun. I need more of this to make an income. If you like my work then maybe I can help you out.

Hey Bob

I'm in the same boat as you are. What did you do before web stuff?

Hey Bob?

Your transcanadachrysler site is very nice. I tend to prefer the full width skins myself. I read that IIS 6 has a default of 20 minutes before it unloads ASP.Net sites. Once that happens it takes a while to start the site. I signed up with www.keepaliveforever.com which browses to the site once every 15 minutes. My webhost said as long as it's at least every 10 minutes they're ok with it.

So if you're hosting the site, you have to either change the IIS 6 defaults or use something like keepaliveforever.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the compliments. I'm in a support ticket right now regarding performance issues and yes, I use a keepalive solution from www.siteprobe.com and it's free.

I've optimized the graphics and turned everything off that I know of and now it's up to my WebHost to work on perfromance issues. I sent you an email so talk to you later.

What's interesting about performance using DNN is that sites such as this one (biforce) load fairly quickly. I have had my site loading more quickly than it is now. I've also contacted the skin designer to see if there are any issues that they could resolve with errors that are reported from site logs about bits and pieces of graphic elements not found.

If I can't do my next project alone or with a purchased skin solution from snowcovered then I will probably sub the design work to biforce if they will accept.

Hey Bob

Siteprobe is one I hadn't heard of. However from my experience, the default for IIS to unload a site is 20 minutes. If you use siteprobe for free it seems it only probes the site once an hour. That means you should see performance problems for 66% of every hour.

Oh, yeah! One more thing! You can see if you're having any performance improvement with this: http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/
