This should be a simple question. I have a site with GoMap on it. The site has 2 different domain names. The Google API key only works for the domain name for which it was generated for. If I vist the site using the alternate domain name, the map does not work. What would be the best way to handle this issue? Is there a setting or module that will reload a page with a specified domain name whena site has more than one identity?

It's quite straight forward to setup:

1. Log into your site with the secondary identity (IE the one you did not use to setup GoMap).
2. Step through the GoMap Wizard again from this domain.
3. Request a new Google API key and added to the GoMap configuration. Even though GoMap will not show your old key anymore, it still remembers it in the configuration file.
4. Finish the configuration wizard. GoMap will now work from both sites.
5. There is no 5th step. That's it!

Hi Eric,

I'm picking up this thread because I have the same problem. I followed your steps, but at step 3 I wonder how to add the new key. Simply replacing the old key didn't work as expected - the map then showed only with the new domain, but not with the old one. Should I append the new key to the old one in the wizard? And if so, what separation character should I use?

BTW: I run Map 02.09.04 on DNN 4.08.04.

Did you check in the configuration file if it still retains the old key.

The old config file contained the key twice:

<APIKey>KEY</APIKey>
<APIKeys>
<anyType xsi:type="APIKey">
<Key>KEY</Key>
<HTTPAlias>3</HTTPAlias>
</anyType>
</APIKeys>

After running through Erics steps, the config file reads now:

<APIKey>NEW KEY</APIKey>
<APIKeys>
<anyType xsi:type="APIKey">
<Key>KEY</Key>
<HTTPAlias>3</HTTPAlias>
</anyType>
</APIKeys>

So I wonder what the correct syntax for two (or more) keys is. Any ideas?

For better multi-domain support, I recommend upgrading to DNN Map (http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Products/Development/Forge/ModuleMap/tabid/952/Default.aspx). The configuration interface allows you to enter any number of keys matched to a domain. I don't believe there's a "upgrade" path, but DNN Map allows for custom data sources, so you'd still be able to use your existing data.

OK Bob, thanks! I'll try the DNN Map.
