I just bought Nukedk with ListX.

I have one main thing I need to create with it - printed the manual but still have no clue where to start in creating what I need to do. Here's what I want to do and if someone can give me some basic steps to achieve this with ListX, that would be much appreciated.

1. A user logs in (via DNN)

2. They go to Page 1 and answer Question A and Question B in text boxes, at a later time they can go to Page 2 and answer Question C and D - maybe multiple choice - but otherwise text boxes.

3. If the revisit Page 1 later, the text boxes will their repsonse that they can edit.

4. At any point they can also go to a report Page that shows in report format all the Questions A, B, C, D, etc and their responses that they personally have entered to-date.

5. If they then want to edit an answer, they can click something and be able to add/update/change that answer by clicking on a link or something to bring up page where they can edit their response and save it.

I know how to do this the old-fashioned way with classic .asp and likely could even do it with asp.net with time and effort - but send this is what ListX is suppose to do best - I want to do it the DNN/ListX way. But need some direction how to start.

I'm a quick technical learner, if someone can get me started, I'll figure things out.

Thanks for your detailed description. To get started many users in our community use the Quick Builder to generate the initial lists and other data entry based functionlity and at least review that configuration to understand how to use the tool. Our forums have many examples of starting points for you alos and even include the ListX configuration, packages at times to download yourself and try.

We also provide a great working example of doing data related functionality. Please install the Doctor Manager ListX Package included with your purchased package. Once installed the package will create a small set of tables (facilities, doctors, etc..) complete with sample data. The package is a complete system including demonstrating the ability to do basic Add, Update, Delete, List, Sort, Search, Filter, Parent Child, detail forms, Export, Form Controls, etc..

This should be a very good working learning tool.

I'm still really frustrated - all I want to do is have a simple text box and submit button where a user answers a question and it goes to a database that records that answer and others for that one user. I looked at the Doctor example and saw it had an add button but it didn't add records - regardless it seems - though I have not seen it stated anywhere - that somehow a database table must be created. I'm not sure how - I expected ListX to create and add it (like H20 does) - does it? If not, how can I via DNN - I use SQL Server 2000 for DNN on a remote server - but don't personally have it and it doesn't look like MS Visual Web Dev permits creating tables or even updating tables from what I can see - but I expected the modle to create a table - just like every other module I have purchased does. Help me understand this (since not documentation does). This should be really simple - and I've gotten no where in several days. Help! I'm a smart quick learner on technical stuff and I can't believe that this has totally confused me. How do a create a new table to link to in ListX? I just want to enter answers for a user and create a collective report of all answers for that person. I know ListX can do tons more - but that's all I want.

Hi There,

We have severals developers using ListX right now - If you have the Access to database via DNN SQL under host menu you should be able to create the tables from there and access it form ListX.

Here are few Tutorials and Examples for you to understand ListX better

In the Doctor Manager example the tables and other database objects are created for you via the package when installed. When using ListX for your own system it assumes you have a data source (SQL, XML, Oracle, mySQL, etc...) and that you connect to this source. It does not out of the box create any tables or database objects for you directly. You must do this on your own. ListX though will offer you a robust manner in which to create integration to those tables adn attributes. The manual and Doctor management have many details and examples on how to create controls and actions for your forms as well as this forum.

Here are two forum postings from our users that walk you thru creating a form that should also be helpful:
