I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the demo and documentation that’s been promised and inching along in my own discovery while I waited.

The online “buy our product it’s the best thing since sliced bread” is great advertisement – for you guys.
For me, I don’t need seeing how great it is, What good does it do me to see the demo ?

At least a basic tutorial for the newbie is available - finally.

I expected an updated better written manual, and your “demo” available as an install/download to include “custom” stored procedures you wrote to make it.

It’s like getting a car delivered in a box with no instructions on how to put it together. However – Just watch our commercial and you can see how fast we made it run, and oh yes, drop by and take ours out for a spin, but don’t take it home.

Yours is in the box, just put it together, brakes optional.

Heck, XMod’s manual is almost 300 pages and rather simple in comparison.

The purpose of the Northwind demo was to show that nearly anything is possible using ListX and Toolbar. There is nothing extraordinary going on here. All ListX and Toolbar settings are available for viewing, and of course, copy and paste. If you need this as a full download, I'll be more than happy to put it together. Honestly, though, I don't see the purpose. Unless you are creating an online management site for the Northwind database, then there really is no need for the full site. The purpose was for people asking:
1. "How do we do custom filtering?"
2. "How do we construct an edit form?"
3. "How do we manage child relations?"
4. "How do we use role-security in Toolbar?"

The stored procedures in question are not at all "custom". The LIST based ones are simply SELECT * FROM... The child relations add the WHERE clause and possibly a JOIN or two. UPDATE and INSERT and DELETE are also straightforward. Again, we left it as stored procedure calls so that you're not bound to using this simply for Northwind. It's an example; a demo.

I like to think of it more like a LEGO set. Just because there's a set of directions included on how to build the racecar, doesn't mean you can use the same pieces to build an icecream truck. Your imagination is the only limitation. What we've developed in ListX is the ability to use HTML to display data from your database. It's really that simple, but that also makes it understandably complex. XMod may come with a 300 page manual, but how is that helpful? If you need to know how to write SQL statements, or design HTML pages, there are far better, more concise manuals out there, and I'd rather not fill up huge tomes just for the sake of having a big manual. We provide code samples. We provide syntax. We provide the pieces. It's up to you how you put it together.

Bob,

Thanks for the email and I understand your point. Was not trying to bash but felt a little frustrated. listx/toolbar are two of the best DNN modules on the market, and I bought the navigator as well. I know good stuff when I see it. I have high hopes on using the products in our organization to replace a $50,000.00 system with an annual maintenance cost of 4K with the dnn 3X, nuke-dk, and navigator.

I think what I'm frustrated with is/was;
You are expecting me to have a level of understanding that maybe I lack. However, I am recently saw added content to the on-line documentation and hopefully will begin to understand how to leverage my data for my clients using listx and toolbar, it's a steep climp.

P.S. How can I add wild cards to %[FILTERTAG]% .
Thanks to you and the listx team.
