I am looking for a tool that can possibly help me with a CRM type system (also managing jobs, monitoring recurring tasks & deadlines).

The CRM is actually to be used by our website users so security is certainly an issue, with a single user role running the CRM (several users in this role, but each running their own secure CRM parallel to each other) where they can also provide other users with various access to the CRM (eg read-only, adding items, viewing jobs etc).

Completely run with data from the SQL server, it would have something like a customer list in the front screen that can be sorted in various ways, or a new customer can be added with a click. An optional task list can also be available to list tasks, deadlines for all customers.

When clicking on a customer, the details will appear along with an edit this customer button. Also appearing would be data from other tables - contacts, addresses, tasks and jobs - so multiple of these are possible for each customer.

eg. It will show customer data, and then a list of customer contact people, followed by a list of different addresses. Similiar to the initial customer screen, buttons would be available to add a contact, add an address... and clicking on a contact or address would go further into that information.

Maybe a fair bit of detail there... but would ListX be a tool capable of all of this, or might some difficulties arise?

I am very limited at the moment in my programming ability, willing to learn and also have a programmer available a bit (just limited do to our financial restraints).

Thanks

David

Hello DavidT,

Listx was built for many of the tasks you just mentioned. There are facilities to do any level of Create, Read, Update or Delete on data in a database. We have built many sites with the tool that have similar requirements. Listx is currently in use by over 1000 individuals doing what you are wanting to do.

There are several considerations to what your requirments are. The only communication ListX has with the DBMS is through ODBC or SQL. Therefore, you will need to give the DNN application or allow ListX to have sa rights to execute jobs. The good thing is that on a ListX to ListX basis you can set the security level so only a few modules will have this level of access. Also, you will need to know the full MS SQL syntax for managing jobs.

We have users of all skill levels using our product. We have the forum here that you can use for support on any specific ListX questions. We also have a consulting block that you can buy iin 4 hour increments if you get into a jam.

To answer your question, yes, Listx is fully capable of handling most of the extremly complex cases that any system requires. We have rarely hit ListX’s limitations. From what you wrote above ListX will certainly be able to stand up to the task.
