How do I create a root menu link with child menu items.

Meaning - I want to have a menu that goes to its own page and then have child menus that go to their own page.  Therefor have a total of 4 pages.  See example below.

Example

  1. About us (aboutus.html)
    1. History (history.html)
    2. Who We Are   (whoweare.html)
    3. Careers  (careers.html)

Is anyone there that can help with the Header/Root Menu linking option?

Howard,

Sorry for the delay, somehow this forum message slipped through our support assignments. I will therefore tackle your problem head on. Assuming you are using DNN3 and the Navigator 2.1.1 installation, we provide a truly simplistic method for managing customized menus like you require.

  1. Add the Navigator Module to your page, then click on the View Options menu item.
  2. Choose the Custom radio option.
  3. Click "Add Menu Item" in the Custom Menu Options Menu Item Table.
  4. Add the following items:
    1. Left Text = About us
      Action = Url - aboutus.html
      Expand = true
    2. Left Text = History
      Action = Url - history.html
    3. Left Text = Who We Are
      Action = Url - whoweare.html
    4. Left Text = Careers
      Action = Url - careers.html
  5. For each item under - About Us. Click the green arrow pointing to the right. Making them all children of About Us
  6. Check the Left Text checkbox under Column Settings.
  7. Hit Update.

Now you have your menu structure. You can setup any of the other parameters you want of look and feel.

Btw - there is a bug in the 2.1.1 release - which causes the Custom Menu table to not display if you have an object qualifier for the database. Grab the latest version from snowcovered if you are experiencing this behaviour.

Happy Nuking!
