Well everyone, a variety of enhancements to both ListX and Toolbar have created the need for a new release, and so 1.5 is now out and awaiting. Before installing the latest version, it is important to go over a few of the new aspects of the platform, as well as a specific notice about the upgrade process.

Notice: Upgrading to ListX 1.5 from the previous release version will change slightly the handling process ListX uses to determine if the module has been moved or copied from another tab. This change affects all upgraders! Existing ListX modules will provide a message that suggests that the Configuration is not yet established for the module. Don't fret, the configuration is still safe - it just hasn't yet confirmed the settings for the upgrade process. Simply click the View Options of the offending module, then within the View Options, click Save. Your configuration should be loaded correctly, without any modifications required.

New in 1.5

  • Toolbar
    • Improved performance, and configuration handling by caching portions of the configuration within the application cache so subsequent requests require no additional source loading.
    • Added ability to execute a javascript pre-script conditional statement prior to executing the actual button action. Meaning, you can specify something like:
      window.confirm('Are you sure?')
As a precursor to the actual action execution of a delete or update.
  • ListX
    • Added ability to handle simplistic action scripts to be executed when the module receives specific module communication messages. These action scripts can handle tasks like execution of sql queries, assignment of runtime variables and page redirection or navigation.
    • Added ability to utilize the power of AJAX for all paging actions - greatly reducing the page size as well as the speed of interaction.
    • Added many new variable sources and formatting improvements to make your code easier and more dynamic.
    • Added the ability to create completely interactive web applications, providing the presentation and data layers completely for lists, grids, property sheets, reports, details and edits - all without the need for compiled code.
    • Added a completely new demonstration set. Check out the current sample on our website for steps to configure ListX for your site.
