Hey guys, I just wanted to give a brief heads up for our faithful followers, regarding the ongoing development of ListX 2.0
(which we refer to as “Bock”). We have been holding the cards very closely on this front, so I’ll give you a glimpse of the full house.

A couple things have to be stated up front. First – we began our development on schedule, but due to a number of requirements coming from our user base, we chose to extend the 1.x version repeatedly and include a variety of these changes directly therein (free of charge of course). Additionally, our pipeline of development has changed over the last year. As many people are well aware, it’s difficult to be both a service and software company, and historically we were the former. With that said, “Bock” isn’t just a fancy new interface, it’s a shift of our perspectives as well, focusing our time and energy on the infrastructure of support, licensing and well-being of our users.

Yes, it’s October 2007 – but we haven’t disappeared – nor have we stopped diligent development, competitive analysis and marketing of 2.0. It’s just been shifted into a more “Open” paradigm. We aren’t focused so narrowly on the DNN platform for our upcoming release (although, obviously it is still a primary target). DNN, while a fantastic platform, doesn’t hold the full market share, and we have shifted the engine to support DNN, Sharepoint, and all other standard .net based developments.

The 2.0 engine is nearly complete – with the DNN wrapper rapidly following. The timeline of development internally is in good shape, and our last hurdle is the new interface, which has taken a great deal of time to improve. Some of the users on this forum have already seen a glimpse of this new interface. We are currently at an alpha mode for the engine and have taken feedback on the UI. We will be making more public announcements as we get into Beta mode with some sneak peak into the features and interface.

Rest assured, the suggestions, wishes and constructive criticism do not go unnoticed. Without these we would not have known what improvements were needed.

Just to provide a few tidbits, as I have mentioned in the past - we've greatly improved the UI making it more intuitive as well as practical, digesting from our community the issues we have been alerted to, primarily those that cause confusion and those that make "many clicks" painful. Trust us - we use this product for all our service contracts too!

This release will have an upgrade price. We have not established this.

As of now there is not a specific date set for the release. We are though on target for internal dates established and have several resources working full time on this. We will keep everyone posted as more information is finalized.

Kevin,

Thanks for the update. As I have mentioned to Chris C. before, I am very interested in 2.0 and it's Sharepoint capabilities. I'm also glad to hear that in addition to DNN and SP you will also support more open development on .Net framework. This is very smart idea in my opinion. Spread the ListX goodness all around!

Please add me to your Beta list (or even your Alpha short list) and I will be happy to assist in any capacity I can with the efforts toward release.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

I appreciate the update. I fully support you all charging for the upgrade. I think this module has been well worth the money and tons more.

I would be happy to beta test as well.

And just in time too. How many versions could you really have squeezed in after 1.9.8.8 anyway? ;)

Well - actually... 1.9.9 could be followed by 1.10.1 or 1.9.10 ;)
